Programm:
Arrival: Friday August 13th 14.30 hrs (boat of 13.30 hrs from the harbour Lauwersoog)
Classes percussion (djembé and doundoun): 4 levels: beginners, semi-advanced, advanced & semi-prof:
Friday 16.00-18.00 hrs /  Saturday & Sunday: 10.00-12.00 & 16.00-18.00 hrs
Classes dance 2 levels: beginners/semi-advanced & advanced:
Friday: beginners/semi-advanced: 15.30-17.00 hrs & advanced: 17.00-18.30 hrs. Saturday: beg./semi-advanced:  9.30-12.30 hrs & advanced: 15.30-18.30 hrs. Sunday advanced: 9.30-12.30 hrs & beg./semi-advanced 15.00-18.00 hrs.

Parties: Friday night: meet and greet, Saturday night: campfire, Sunday night: endparty in the villagehouse of Schiermonnikoog.

Ibrahima Sarr

Recognized as one of the greatest drummers of his era, Ibrahima Sarr was born in 1963 in Bamako, Mali. At the age of six, djembé enters his life and never leaves. Creator and arranger, Sarr developed a distinctive style composed of breaks that accompany traditional music and with the use of the drum's bass. In the eighties he achieves major successes in Bamako with his group "Danaya", and from that time he reigns the traditional drums in Mali. Besides his band, Ibrahima Sarr played in Mali and abroad as a soloist in prestigious troups such as "National Ballet of Mali", the "Babemba Ballet ", the "Troupe du Chemin de Fer", "Percussion Djoliba", "Promo 2000 ", the "Kelete Ballet "and "Domba Ballet". From 1991 to 1996, he was the percussionist of the famous Malian star Oumou Sangare (albums "Ko Sira" and "Oumou"). Ibrahima has also worked with other artists such as Fantani Toure (album "N'Tin Naari "). In 2007, his first album "Ceremonial drumming In modern Bamako" was released in the USA and in 2008, Fonti Musicali published his second album, "Porte 386". Ibrahima will be for the first time in the Netherlands so don’t miss this master of the Bambara rhythms!!!

Babara Bangoura

Babara Bangoura werd geboren in Conakry, maar komt van origine uit Kankan Guinee. Hij werd op jonge leeftijd percussionist bij de Guinee Juniors ook wel de Boca Juniors genaamd en niet veel later deel van het Nationale Ballet van Guinee: “Djoliba”. In 1999 kwam hij naar Europa waar hij een zeer succesvolle docent en artiest is. Zo is hij een van Mamady Keita’s muzikanten in de groep Sewa Kan en richtte hij zelf twee groepen op: Bolo Kan en Foli Kan. Bovendien heeft Mamady Keita sinds zijn vertrek naar de VS al zijn lessen en netwerk in België en omgeving overgedragen aan Babara wat natuurlijk zeer veelzeggend is. Moussé Dramé

Moussé Dramé received his djembé- and doundoun education in the well-known bambara griot family Diabaté-Dramé-Cissoko in Senegal. Besides being the djembé solist of various ballets, he also learned to play sabar, tama, ngoni and seourouba. Since Moussé was 15 he toured through Europe as solist of various percussion- and dance groups and tought workshops abroad. Since December 1998 many students enjoy his energetic djembé and doundoun classes and workshops in which he inspires with his knowledge and fun. He will also be you talking drum wake up call during the weekend! 

Ibou N’Diaye

Ibou N’Diaye is born and raised in one of the well-known griotfamily in Senegal. His mother is danser and choreographer of the National Ballet of Senegal. His father was the artistic leader of Ballet Cinemeew and his grandfather the famous percussionist Doudou N'Diaye Rose. When he was only 13 years when he joined the National Ballet and toured through Japan and Taiwan. He founded his own “Groupe Kiss”, which became very populair in Senegal because of their new and original sabar- and djembé-arrangements. Since 2003 he lives in Switzeland where he performs and teaches. Enjoy Ibou’s fantastic energy and enthusiasm this weekend!

Youssouf Koumbassa

Youssouf Koumbassa is a former artist of Ballet Djoliba, the National Ballet of Guinea. Born and raised in Guinea, West Africa, Youssouf began dancing at the age of six by studying and emulating the members of the National Ballet and the leading dancers of the many local and regional dance companies in Guinea. Youssouf's father is from the Landuma people and his mother from the Baga/Susu people. In Guinea he studied under Sekouba Camara, Artistic director of Ballet National Djoliba and also with Kemoko Sano, the acclaimed Artistic Director of Les Ballets Africains, developing his talents as a dancer, musician and choreographer. In thirteen years with the Ballet National, Youssouf traveled extensively throughout West Africa, Japan, Bangladesh, India, Holland, Hungary, Russia, Korea, Libya, Saudi Arabia and the United States. Since moving to the United States twenty two years ago, Youssouf has established himself as the pre-eminent teacher of dance from Guinea, and now travels widely throughout the world as a much sought after master teacher at dance conferences, workshops, camps and schools. When at home in New York his classes are attended by a large and loyal following who are appreciative of his mercurial energy and grace. We love to have him back for our 10 years anniversary and we think you all do!!

*Not incuded is the travels to and from the island Schiermonnikoog and to and from the farm "De Kooiplaats" where we stay, extra drinks, bike rental, djembé rental etc.
